There are a lot of reasons why a person can suffer from this condition. It can also be a side effect of the drugs that the people are taking. Drugs like narcotics, calcium channel blockers, antidepressants, and diuretics can also cause depression. Some people who are often taking laxatives can also suffer from constipation because their normal functioning has been disturbed.

Aside from those drugs mentioned, dairy products like milk can also cause hardening of stools. Hence, it is not advised to drink milk if you are already suffering from constipation.

Inactivity is also another cause of constipation. People who are living a sedentary lifestyle and don't frequently engage in physical activities are prone to develop this condition. Experts believe that it is essential to engage yourself in physical activities in order to prevent these conditions.
